Flights of Fancy, part 1

I am dividing this post in two since I’ve got so many images of the steps taken to get to the finished pieces! I began working on these pieces last week on my birthday as sort of a creative celebration. As I’ve mentioned, on the days that are sunny and pleasant outside I really enjoy setting up outside in the drive and painting with abandon. Not having to worry about drips and cleaning up messes is a nice change of pace!  Although this set of art ended up with four pieces, it began with these three canvases.

Once I got started layering on the colors the wind dried them quickly and I could add additional colors at a nice pace. work in progress, image 2 © lynne medskerwork in progress, image 3 © lynne medskerwork in progress, image 4 © lynne medsker

I was having fun with the bright colors and blending and brushing!

I loved some of these stages along the way…many times I debated stopping but, as much as I liked them, they still didn’t feel like “me” and my art yet! So, on went a layer of white, with some of the underlayers peeking through here & there.

Now it was beginning to feel more my style but this isn’t where it ends!! Curious? Come back tomorrow for the completion of the steps, as well as the creation of a mixed media wall sculpture to compliment the canvas pieces!
